What is fouling up my plugs?

I have an early 80's 25 HP Mercury outboard. It always runs good but the top end and power goes away after about 3 trips on the water. I keep putting in new plugs and they seem to foul up. There is not much build-up on them but they turn a darker brown color. After I put new plugs in it runs at top speed and power until they go to hell again. I have been using a 50:1 fuel mixture with premium gas.

Does anyone know what is going on? Is it my air/fuel mixture?

Thanks for your insight!

Sounds like a weak spark.  I would test your coil/coil wires.

I'd guess you've got low compression.   Sounds like some of the old sleds we used to run, the compression was poor at best and we'd change plugs 10x a day.  We cleaned them up with a wire brush and just rotated them all day long LOL!

Motor is probably just showing a bit of its age, as compression falters plugs seem to go quick.  A check with a compression guage could confirm this.  Good luck!
