Yamaha Trim Adjustment

Is it possible and how/what do you adjust in order for your trim gauge to actually reflect where the motor is at.

At full down trim, the gauge shows 1/4 up at full up on the gauge the motor is only at 3/4.

Basically the gauge is off by a quarter. Any way to fix this????

I'm sure there probably is an adjustment. I will look at mine this weekend and if I can figure it out, get back to you. Of course you could always resort to the BFH and wack it a quarter turn!  ; )  BFH is a Big F&*^%&G# Hammer!

It sounds like you are off 1/4 both ways towards centered. Is there some way to adjust the "range" (for lack of the correct term).

All to familiar with the all mighty BFH and if that dont work get a bigger BFH!!! LOL Thats the "wrench" coming out in me!

Yes it is off by a qtr to the "right" per say.

I was reading on another site that there is a screw towards the front of the engine ect but I can not relate to the instructions they are giving.  I pulled the manual up on-line but they only talk about the digital gauges and this is a manual one.

Heading up tonight to the lake so I suppose I will take a couple screw sticks up and tinker with it while out fishing.

By the way, has anyone seen two of my fishfinders? I put them away this winter and  Iwill be darned if I can find them. They are both 700 series humminbirds so if you run across them let me know!!! LOL       CRS kickin' in!

There is a ring adjustment on the steering arm shaft at the front of the motor.   It looks like a ring with a cam on it.   Just loosen the screw and rotate it and you'll see the trim guage move.

Ditto, I had installed new gauges in my boat and the trim guage wasn't reading right.  After reading this yesterday went home and had it adjusted in 5 minutes.

Thanks!

Wow - three quick fixes.   That's how these forums should always work.  I should have mentioned that the ring may break because its plastic, but a new one is only a couple of bucks.  I also found a metal replacement ring for just a little more but I'll wait until my plastic ring breaks again.
